Police stopped four men on 26 October 2025 along the Trans Kalahari road near the Meru fuel station in Lobatse and found seven black plastic bags holding 79.1 kilograms of cannabis.[1] The four — Nkosinathi Ncube, 43, Tinashe Musinahama, 33, Aleck Katumbi, 40, and Lazarus Ncube, 40 — appeared before Senior Magistrate Tshoganetso Atamelang at the Lobatse Magistrate Court charged with unlawful possession of dagga.[1]

All four pleaded not guilty to the cannabis charge.[1] Musinahama, a Zimbabwean national, also faced an overstay charge for remaining in Botswana since 2022, and Katumbi, a non-Botswana citizen, for overstaying since April 2020; both pleaded guilty to those charges.[1] Lazarus Ncube additionally faced a charge of entering Botswana through an un-gazetted point, to which he pleaded guilty.[1]

The quartet were set to appear in court again on 10 December 2025 for presentation of the facts.[1]
