Police in Besançon detained a 20-year-old motorist during the night from Sunday to Monday on boulevard Winston-Churchill in the city.[1][2] Officers had stopped the driver for excessive speed, and a subsequent test showed him positive for cannabis.[1][2]

A search of the vehicle uncovered 67 grams of cannabis concealed in a hiding place fitted inside the car.[1][2] Officers also seized 1,190 euros in cash found with the cannabis during the same vehicle check.[1][2] A follow-up search of the driver’s home recovered a further 870 euros, bringing the total amount of cash seized in the case to 2,060 euros.[1][2] The young driver was placed in police custody after the seizures and admitted the facts.[1][2]

He is now to answer for his actions before the justice system through comparution sur reconnaissance préalable de culpabilité, the French guilty-plea procedure.[1][2] The case therefore links a roadside traffic stop in Besançon to a home search and a forthcoming court hearing.[1]

The interception happened at about 02:45.[2] The 67 grams comprised 9 grams of cannabis resin and 58 grams of cannabis herb.[2] The hiding place was a cache fitted under the central armrest.[2] Officers of the judicial support group came to the scene to search the vehicle.[2] The 1,190 euros were in the driver’s satchel and the 870 euros found at his home were in his bedroom.[2] His custody ended on 3 November 2026 and he was summoned by a police officer for the guilty-plea hearing.[2]
