Libya’s General Department for Combating Drugs and Psychotropic Substances said its Benghazi branch arrested a Libyan man on 31 October 2026.[1] About 16 kilograms of hashish were found with him, the branch said.[1] The man was identified only by the initials M. A. L. H., born in 1963.[2] His home is in the Shuhada al-Zawiya neighbourhood of Benghazi, the branch said.[1] He was unemployed, according to the branch.[2] It said he was suspected of dealing drugs in the city.[1]

The branch said its detectives had been assigned to open an evidence file to check the information it had received about his activity before they set the ambush.[2] Officers caught him in the act of trafficking hashish, it said.[2] The branch said it took the legal steps required in the case and notified the Public Prosecution.[2]
