Libya’s eastern authorities seized about 400 kilograms of hashish at a house in an agricultural area southeast of Tobruk on Saturday 10 October 2026, and arrested suspects.[1][2] Ahmed al-Mismari, information and documentation officer at the anti-drugs agency, told Reuters the load had been smuggled across the border with Egypt and was meant for sale and distribution inside Libya.[1][2]
Officials put the hashish at about 6 million dinars, which Reuters converted to about 934,000 dollars.[1][2] The number of detainees was not confirmed. They were from Libya and Egypt.[1][2] Pictures the agency posted showed a large quantity of hashish in gold and black patterned packages marked with symbols, including a horse and the year 2026.[1][2]
