Police in Batu destroyed 3,927.13 grams of cannabis, almost four kilograms, at the Tlekung landfill in Junrejo district, Batu city, on Thursday 29 October 2026.[1] Police have named a 33-year-old farmer from Ngroto village in Pujon district, Malang regency, identified by the initials DK, as a suspect in the case.[1] Batu police chief AKBP Panji Gedhe Prabawa led the destruction.[1] Police described the destruction as a form of transparency meant to ensure drug evidence is destroyed under the law.[1]

The case was uncovered by Satresnarkoba, the narcotics unit of Batu police.[1] Police said it began with a shipment of about five kilograms of cannabis sent through a jasa ekspedisi, a courier and freight-forwarding service.[1] Police said they received information about a suspicious parcel on Monday 12 October 2026.[2] They detained DK, a resident of Pujon in Malang regency, on Tuesday 13 October 2026.[2] The parcel held five packets of one kilogram each, which police valued at Rp25 million and said were meant for distribution.[2] DK told investigators he bought the cannabis through social media from a man identified as H, who is on the police wanted list.[3] H is suspected to be in Padang, West Sumatra.[3]

Police accused DK under Article 114(2) or Article 111(2) of Indonesia’s 2009 Narcotics Law, charges that carry six to 20 years in prison.[1] Police said the investigation was continuing before the case file was sent to prosecutors.[2] The police chief urged residents of Batu to report suspected drug use or dealing.[1]
