The Meerganj Circle Officer (CO), a sub-district police officer, raided a roadside kiosk outside the Hardaspur police outpost in Sirauli police station area, Bareilly district, on the evening of Thursday 29 October 2026.[1][2] Police detained two people at the kiosk and said action was being taken against them.[3] Officers seized about 100 grams (0.1 kg) of charas, a hand-made cannabis resin, and some illegal liquor.[4] The two were identified as Chandrapal, who ran the kiosk, and his father.[5][2]

The kiosk stood a few steps from the Hardaspur police check post.[6][2] Charas, illegal liquor and other intoxicants had been sold there for a long time.[1] Villagers alleged the trade ran with the local police’s support.[4] Police also seized an electronic scale and ₹2,500 in cash.[6]

Police registered a first information report (FIR), the document that starts a criminal case in India, against Chandrapal and his father under the NDPS Act, India’s main anti-drug law, and the Excise Act.[4] They were produced in court on Friday and sent to jail.[5][2] People in the area said police removed the kiosk the next day.[5][2]
