Officers of the Barbados Police Service Special Operations Management Division launched Operation Green Bay in the early morning of Saturday 29 August, targeting dense brush and farmland in Welch, Cliff Cottage, Bath Land and Colleton in the parish of St John.[1]

The sweep eradicated 5,968 cannabis plants ranging from seedlings to mature trees eight feet high; the vegetation weighed 356.79 kg with an estimated street value exceeding $1.4 million.[1] No suspects were apprehended and police investigations continue to identify the cultivation network.[1]

Residents described officers arriving from about five in the morning and searching the terrain with drones until after midday, with the harvested plants’ smell hanging over the area.[1] Police asked anyone with information on the crop’s ownership to come forward.[1]
