Acting on a tip-off, a special Department of Narcotics Control team led by Inspector Shahria Sharmin of the Dhaka Metro (North) Airport Circle intercepted Md Zulfikar Molla, 33, of Rajarhat in India’s North 24 Parganas, at about 1:30pm at the green channel of the arrival hall on 24 July 2026.[1]

Molla had arrived from Bangkok on Thai Airways flight TG321.[1] A search of his trolley bag in the presence of witnesses and airport authorities uncovered 11.8 kilograms of cannabis concealed beneath clothing in 21 polythene packets; officers also seized his Indian passport, boarding card and an Oppo smartphone with an Indian Jio SIM.[1]

A case was filed under the Narcotics Control Act, 2018 at Airport Police Station with Inspector Sharmin as complainant; Molla told interrogators he had planned to stay in Bangladesh for two to three days before returning to India.[1]
