On 15 October 2026, the Guardia Civil dismantled a cannabis plantation in
woodland at Vilopriu in Girona province, in an operation it called Patos.[1][2]The site was in a remote, mountainous area in the Gaussès district.[2]
Officers found plants already cut and seized1,360 kg of cannabis, plus a hidden
drying area of about 200 m².[1][2]Two camouflaged tents held cooking gear in
one and mattresses in the other; police believe a 34-year-old man had been
living there to guard the crop.[1][2]
They arrested him and put him before a duty court in La Bisbal d’Empordà.[1][2][3]A judge released him with precautionary measures while the investigation
continued.[1][2][3]
The plantation covered about 2,400 m² in the Gaussès area; no plant count is given because the cannabis had already been cut.
A drying area of about 200 m² was hidden nearby. No street value was published.
The suspect was not named. The inquiry called Operation Patos had begun about a month earlier.
20minutos described the haul as more than 1,300 kg of freshly cut cannabis, while El Debate and the Guardia Civil statement gave 1,360 kg; the report keeps 1,360 kg.
El Debate's text closely matches the Europa Press report of the same Guardia Civil statement and credits its photograph to Europa Press; 20minutos's text matches the ACN account already cited, so neither is independent reporting.
Left out, as its quotation was not found in 20minutos: The suspected offence was a crime against public health.

Four people aged 23 to 40 were arrested while cutting buds; agents also took 40 kg of buds in two sacks.

Spain's Guardia Civil found 135,000 marijuana plants on a 12-hectare holding in Huerta de Valdecarábanos, Toledo, announced 18 October 2021, calling it the largest marijuana plantation found in Europe to date. Wider October raids across Toledo province seized more than 200,000 plants, amid official warnings over illegal farms disguised as hemp.
