Israeli police said they found about 25 kg of suspected hashish in a car near the city of Rahat in the Negev.[1] They arrested the driver, a 28-year-old resident of Tarabin.[1] The car had been spotted at the Goral junction and tried to flee before officers found it near Rahat after searches.[1] The driver was taken for questioning.[1]

The seizure was one of a series of operations in Bedouin towns in the Negev, including Tel Sheva, Ar’arat an-Naqab, Rahat, Tarabin, Laqiya and Hura.[2] Police said the operations took place over the previous few days.[3] In the same operations police seized three M-16 rifles, four pistols, improvised weapons and hundreds of rounds, as well as the hashish.[2] They arrested a number of suspects.[2]

In a separate raid in Rahat, police said they found three M-16 rifles, two Glock pistols, an improvised pistol and a Carlo rifle in residential compounds.[3] Several suspects were arrested there over shootings and illegal weapons.[3]
