Ecuador’s Armed Forces, acting through the Ecuadorian Army, apprehended three
citizens in the Pifo sector of Quito’s metropolitan district during a military
Control of Arms, Munitions and Explosives (CAMEX) operation.[1]Pifo is part
of Quito’s metropolitan district, and the intervention was carried out as a
CAMEX registry and control operation.[1]Uniformed officers intercepted the
three individuals while they were travelling together aboard the same motorcycle
during registry and control work in the zone.[1]Authorities had provided no
official information on the identities or ages of the three detainees.[1]
Inspection of the occupants and the motorcycle found two bags containing a green
substance presumed to be marijuana.[1]Officers also found an additional bag
containing a whitish substance with characteristics similar to cocaine alongside
the suspected marijuana.[1]Officers seized two mobile phones and a wallet
containing 20.15 dollars in cash from the group in addition to the suspected
drugs.[1]
The three detainees and all secured evidence were placed at the disposal of the
competent judicial authorities for the corresponding legal procedure.[1]
No weight for the suspected marijuana was published, only two bags, so no kilograms can be recorded.
The whitish cocaine-like substance is mentioned only to explain the mixed seizure and is excluded from cannabis figures.
The article gives no separate date for the CAMEX control; 11 September 2026 is its publication date and is used as the incident date.
The identities and ages of the three detainees were not released, and no charges or court outcome beyond referral to judicial authorities were reported.
The 20.15 dollars was seized cash, not a drug valuation, so no value is recorded, and the phones and motorcycle are not counted in figures.
Only one accessible source for this event was found after searching in Spanish.
