The Osun State command of Nigeriaβs National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) destroyed 20,234 kg of skunk on a cannabis farm in Area 4, Ife South Local Government Area, on 30 September 2026.[1] The farm covered 8.0936 hectares, the agency said in a statement published on 4 October.[1][2]
NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi said operatives destroyed the farm on 30 September.[1] The statement announced other operations across the country, but gave no count of the plants destroyed at Ife South and no estimate of their value.[1][2] It reported no arrests at the farm.[1][2]
The same statement announced unrelated seizures and arrests in Plateau, Lagos, Kogi and Edo states, including 385 kg of skunk seized in Jos North and a 47-year-old man arrested six years after he failed to appear in a 198 kg skunk case.[1][2] Those are separate events, not part of the Osun destruction.[1][2]
The agency did not say who cultivated the Osun farm or what happened to the land after the burning.[1][2]
