Two men were shot in Kathmandu and Rupandehi on 7 April 2026, and 11 of those shot or arrested in the cases were Indian nationals. Police said the shootings were self-defence; critics said they had not reduced trafficking, with drug cases rising from 4,100 in 2022/23 to 5,110 in 2024/25 and cannabis seizures reaching a record 51,439 kg.[1]
