Department of Narcotics Control officers detained 48-year-old Abdus Salam in the Gopalpur Basantapur area of Meherpur Sadar.[1] Officers also linked 25-year-old Alauddin to the operation and named him in the same case, without reporting that he was detained.[1] The operation took place in the area under Meherpur Sadar police station on Thursday, 5 November 2026.[1]

Acting on secret information, officers searched Salam’s own three-room single-storey house.[1] Under the bed in the north-east room, they found a plastic bag holding 115 yaba pills weighing 11.5 grams, 500 grams of ganja, the local term for cannabis, and Tk 45,500 in cash described as drug-sale proceeds.[1] The directorate put the estimated value of all the seized drugs together at Tk 66,000, a combined figure not recorded as a cannabis value.[1]

Alauddin was reported to work as a painter at the Meherpur IT Training and Incubation Centre.[1] Sub-Inspector Md. Rahmat Ali of the district narcotics office filed a regular case under the Narcotics Control Act, 2018, at Meherpur Sadar police station.[1]
