The Mauritius Revenue Authority seized about 18 kilograms of leaf matter suspected to be cannabis, worth an estimated Rs 22,418,400, on 31 December 2025 at the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport.[1]
The passenger, a lady declaring herself a spiritual advisor residing in Alabama, United States, arrived the same day but could not collect her luggage on arrival; she later returned to take delivery, and after customs formalities the bags were selected for examination.[1] Inspection revealed thirty rectangular parcels of compressed leaf matter weighing about 18 kilograms in total.[1]
The exhibits were secured by MRA Customs Anti-Narcotics Section officers; the suspect was arrested by the Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit, and further enquiries led to two more arrests linked to the trafficking case, with police enquiries ongoing.[1]
