A Kyrgyz citizen suspected of organizing an international drug-supply channel was extradited from the United States to Kyrgyzstan.[1] Officers of the Interior Ministry’s anti-drug-trafficking service carried out the operation with assistance from the US Drug Enforcement Administration and Interpol.[1] Kaktus.media identifies the suspect only as H.T., who had been temporarily living in the United States.[2]

Investigators say that in early 2024 the citizen created a channel for smuggling drugs into Kyrgyzstan.[1] Investigators believe he purchased dried marijuana buds and psychotropic substances in the United States.[3] The substances were concealed among ordinary goods and sent to Kyrgyzstan by international mail.[3] The parcels were registered under the names of the suspect’s acquaintances.[3] After the shipments arrived, other alleged members of the scheme recruited third parties to distribute the drugs in Bishkek and Chui region.[3] The Interior Ministry describes the shipments as involving an organized drug-trafficking group.[3]

The ministry has not disclosed how much was smuggled, how long the channel operated, or how many people are in the case.[3] Investigators are still working to identify everyone involved and establish the other circumstances of the case.[3]
