A large-scale ganja cultivation case surfaced in the state: before the crop could be harvested and disposed of, the Jodhpur Narcotics Control Bureau and the Anti-Narcotics Task Force destroyed the crop grown on about 10 bighas on Wednesday, a haul whose market price was estimated at Rs 12 crore.[1]
NCB zonal director Ghanshyam Soni said an Operation Shankar was run after 7,577 plants were found planted in a field at Kotda in Udaipur; they would have produced 2,273 kg of ganja valued at about Rs 12 crore on the market.[1] He added that Rajasthan’s patwaris have been directed to inspect their areas regularly during girdawari and immediately report suspected narcotic cultivation to the girdawar and tehsildar.[1]
Joint teams of NCB Jodhpur, ANTF Rajasthan and Rajasthan Police traced the illegal cultivation at Nayavas village under Kotda tehsil and acted; an ANTF team in plain clothes had first kept the crop under secret watch at the spot.[1]
