Officers of the Kolomna urban district Interior Ministry, together with a
representative of the state anti-drug committee, destroyed wild cannabis
plantations covering more than one hectare during operation Mak-2025, the Moscow
region police press service said on 15 September 2025.[1] The patches grew near
the settlements of Sergievsky and Kamenka in Kolomna.[1]
Forensic experts who examined sample plants found tetrahydrocannabinol and
concluded the cannabis could be used to produce marijuana.[2] Officers treated
the sites with specialised herbicides intended to kill the plants including their
roots.[2] A Moscow region Interior Ministry spokesperson quoted in Kolomna-Spravka
said laboratory tests confirmed the seized samples contained psychoactive material
suitable for making narcotics.[2]
