Nagoya Customs denounced a 21-year-old Vietnamese man, a self-described demolition worker, and a 16-year-old boy, both living in Iwata, Shizuoka prefecture, to the Nagoya District Public Prosecutors Office on 29 September 2026, on suspicion of smuggling about 11.4 kg of “liquid cannabis” — a THC cannabis extract — into Japan from Vietnam by international express post and other means between October 2025 and January 2026.[1] The two had already been denounced by customs in June 2026 over a similar import.[1]

Police had arrested the pair on 14 September 2026 on suspicion of importing about 9 kg of THC liquid for profit, describing them as the suspected ringleaders of a group; six people, including recipients, had been arrested in the case since customs inspectors found drugs in a shipment in November 2025.[2][1] Customs says more than 20 kg of liquid cannabis has been seized in the investigation, and police are working to establish the full scale of the smuggling.[2]
