Gendarmerie officers stopped a private car carrying a suspect identified only as
R.A. at the control point at Ikisu village on the Gumushane-Trabzon highway.[1] Intelligence work had indicated that R.A., travelling by private car on the
highway, would bring narcotic drugs into Gumushane province across its borders.[1] On the public prosecutor’s instructions, officers opened a judicial
investigation against R.A. for using and possessing narcotic or stimulant drugs
under Article 191 of the Turkish Penal Code.[1]
Officers searching R.A. and the car found 27 grams of cannabis described in the

brought into the city and were taken into safekeeping.[1]
The operation was carried out by teams of the Narcotic Crimes Branch Directorate
and the Merkez District Gendarmerie Command under the Gumushane Provincial
Gendarmerie Command.[1] The provincial command described the work as part of
continuous field efforts to prevent the manufacture, trade and use of drugs
across the province.[1] After evaluating the intelligence, the teams increased
security measures on the identified routes before stopping the car at Ikisu.[1]
