Police stopped two vehicles near the community of Rosario on the road between Guayaramerín and Cachuela Esperanza, in Bolivia’s Beni department, close to the Brazilian border.[1] Officers first intercepted a station wagon carrying jute sacks of a green substance they took for marijuana.[1] A pickup then tried to avoid the checkpoint and was stopped kilometres further on, with more packages of the same substance.[1]

Field tests were positive for marijuana.[1] Beni’s departmental prosecutor, Orlando Aramayo Chávez, said the load was wet marijuana weighing 971.9 kilograms, and that both vehicles were seized.[1] The men held were named as Heiner R. M. H. and Freddy E. C. M., aged 33 and 27.[1] They are under investigation for trafficking in controlled substances and were taken before the duty investigating judge in Guayaramerín.[1]

The assigned prosecutor, Elmer Aguilar Gamarra, said he learned of the case on 20 October 2026 from a report by the Intelligence and Special Operations Group in Guayaramerín.[1] El Mundo carried the same weights, names and place from the prosecutor’s office.[2]
