Customs officers at Gaya International Airport arrested two women from Punjab after they arrived from Thailand.[1] The women were identified as Simranjit and Kulwinder, both reported as Punjab residents.[1] They arrived on a Thai Airways flight from Thailand at around 11.45 am and were detained after security staff reportedly noticed suspicious contents during baggage screening.[1] They were questioned for about eight hours before being formally arrested.[1]

Officers allegedly recovered about 10 kg of marijuana from four separate bags belonging to the pair.[1] The bags were examined more closely after Central Industrial Security Force personnel and other security staff flagged something suspicious during routine screening.[1] The consignment was reported to be worth about Rs 10 crore on the international market, although that valuation was not officially confirmed.[1]

Airport sources said six people had travelled to Thailand about four days before the seizure.[1] The two women arrived back at Gaya with the suspected narcotics, while the other four had reportedly not yet returned.[1] Customs investigators are examining the group’s possible connection to the consignment and whether others were involved, working to establish its origin and intended destination.[1]
