Shane Hendry, 30, was sentenced in Moncton provincial court to 122 days, treated as time already served, after pleading guilty to possessing cannabis for the purpose of distributing it and to resisting a peace officer.[1] The court imposed 92 days for those offences and 30 days for minor offences dating to 2019 that he had not dealt with after skipping court.[1] He was placed on probation for 12 months, which the defence said would be transferred to Ontario so he could return to his family.[1] The Crown withdrew a charge of assaulting a police officer.[1]

On 10 August 2026, at about 11:25 a.m., Codiac Regional RCMP were told that two people who had just left a business in Dieppe appeared impaired, then stopped a matching vehicle in a parking lot.[2] The driver got out and fled.[1] Hendry, the passenger, moved into the driver’s seat and tried to leave; officers removed him and arrested him after a brief struggle.[2] The RCMP said he was taken to hospital and treated for minor injuries.[2]

In court, police said the search of the vehicle recovered scales, two small bags of cannabis described as a nominal quantity, and $311,000 in cash.[1] The RCMP said officers seized a large amount of Canadian currency, controlled substances believed to be hashish and cannabis, identity cards, bank cards, cell phones and drug paraphernalia.[2] Defence lawyer Mathieu Boutet said the defence admitted possession for distribution because of the whole context, including the money, even though the cannabis amount was small.[1] Prosecutor Aaron Kamondo said the Crown was not seeking forfeiture of the cash at that time, because a warrant was still outstanding for the co-accused and the items had to remain in police custody as evidence.[1]

An arrest warrant remains for 31-year-old Kyle Winston Rouse of Etobicoke, Ontario, identified as the driver who fled, for refusing to comply with a police demand, possession of cannabis for the purpose of distributing it, and resisting a peace officer.[1] The defence said police were still looking for him.[1]
