The Cross River State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) raided Yala Nkum (Iyala Nkun) village in Ikom Local Government Area on 4 October 2026 after surveillance, and arrested 46-year-old Adama Inuwa, who said she was from Ogoja Local Government Area.[1][2]
The operation recovered 181 bags of suspected cannabis sativa weighing about 1,100 kilograms, along with 17.15 kilograms of cannabis seeds.[1][2] The command’s media and advocacy officer, Sebastian Lebo, signed the statement announcing the arrest.[1]
Inuwa has been taken into custody, and the agency says investigations are continuing to identify possible networks behind the drugs; she will be charged in court once investigations and legal procedures are complete.[1] The command described the seizure as part of its effort to disrupt the supply of drugs in the state and keep them from reaching the public, especially young people.[1]
