A report published on 30 August 2026 said the Nuoliang Border Police Station of the Lincang Border Management Detachment had recently used a drone to patrol the China–Myanmar border and found about 500 wild cannabis plants.[1][2]
The drone searched wooded ravines that officers on foot had difficulty reaching and located a dense patch, the reports said.[1][2] The station then sent officers and border guards to the site, where they counted the plants one by one, uprooted them all and arranged for harmless disposal.[1][2]
The team conducted a second sweep of the surrounding area to check for more plants.[1][2] The accounts describe the drone patrol as the station’s first and say it helped cover remote border areas that had been difficult to patrol.[1][2]
Both articles reproduce a locally attributed account and say the plants were removed, but they give no exact operation date or precise site.[1][2] Neither names a suspected grower or reports an arrest.[1][2]
