In Nuoliang Town of Cangyuan Va Autonomous County, anti-drug workers were carrying out household visits and anti-drug publicity across their jurisdiction.[1] During that work, a villager took the initiative to tell the anti-drug work station that suspected drug-origin plants had been found around his family’s farmland.[1] After receiving the tip, the workers followed the villager to the scene at once to verify it, and after careful comparison confirmed the plants were wild cannabis.[1]
To prevent the drug-origin plants from spreading, staff then mounted a carpet-style search of the area and, after a full check, found a total of more than 100 wild cannabis plants at the site.[1] Anti-drug workers immediately used tools to thoroughly uproot and clear all of the wild cannabis plants there, eliminating the area’s potential drug-related risk.[1]
The account is credited to Lincang Rongmei.[1] It describes the villager’s voluntary report and help with clearance as evidence that sustained publicity work has moved residents from not knowing or asking to being able to recognise, report and participate, strengthening the border anti-drug defence.[1]
