On Wednesday 1 October 2026 Cordillera police uprooted and burned about 2,500 marijuana seedlings during an eradication operation at Sitio Lubban, Barangay Kayapa, in Bakun, Benguet province.[1]

The Philippine Daily Inquirer reported that personnel from Bakun Municipal Police Station, Benguet provincial mobile force and intelligence units, regional intelligence staff and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) for the Cordillera Administrative Region took part.[1] The paper said the seedlings carried a standard drug price of about P100,000 and that officers burned them on the spot.[1]

Police told the Inquirer the plantation was found during continuing anti-cultivation work in the region and that they were investigating who was behind it and whether other sites were operating nearby.[1] No arrests were reported.[1]

The newspaper published a PRO-Cordillera photograph of the eradication.[1]
